Nobody on the Left hates America, it is that they understand that countries often commit actions of aggression to further narrow interests within the country. It is both the love of life and the realization that what makes this country truly great are the actions that further life. Let us “Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it” Psalm 34:14
I am surprised that as a Christian, you have wrapped yourself in an ideology that provides thinly veiled lies to justify imperial actions and murder. We must not condone such violent actions or accept the lies that have allowed so many international crimes, such as the 1953 Iranian coup d’état, the Vietnam War, the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the 1973 Chilean coup d’état, the invasion of Grenada, Contras in Nicaragua, the abuse in Palestine, Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Afghanistan War, etc.
There is a substantial literary body to support that these actions were done in the interests of elites in Washington and to the detriment of the people living in the countries where the action took place. Martin Luther King Jr. once called the United States “greatest purveyor of violence in the world today” and Noam Chomsky, the most cited living author on the planet, said “If the Nuremberg laws were applied, then every post-war American president would have been hanged.”
Remember the U.S. is not unique in participating in acts of aggression, but as the strongest country in the world we have a responsibility to check the abuses of our government.
