I PLEDGE......
So here's the deal. Compare the above and the following with a leader from past history. Pick anyone you like. I'll pick......Hitler.
"I Pledge" opens with a popular depiction of Obama. The president states, "Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other."
The following are some of the more controversial pledges:
I pledge allegiance to the funk of the united funk of funkadelica.
I pledge to never give anyone the finger when I'm driving again
I pledge to advance stem-cell research
To reduce my use of plastic … use less bottled water … plant 500 trees this year … to be more green … to no longer use plastic bags at the grocery store
For the environment, I plan to flush only after deuce, never a single
I pledge to sell my obnoxious car and buy a hybrid
I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama

Ok, I'll bite.
You say this can be compared with other leaders from history, and then you (cleverly) suggest Hitler.
So, please put your money where your mouth is, and make that comparison. How, exactly, does this "compare" to what Hilter did, or how he used media during his reign.
You are being very obtuse in all of this...
Hitler used his propaganda to further his agenda of building a "perfect race" via staying "vigilant against those who might be against the motherland", by excersising, and by systematic hatred toward the population of "unwanteds". Now, since you point out there are similarities: where does this video suggest selling out your family and friends so that they can be arrested, taxed, or murdered? Where does this video suggest harboring hatred for any group of people? Where does this video suggest that children should exercise so that they can join the army and in turn kill themselves for America?
AND--isn't that exactly the kind of thing Conservative types /want/ to hear? Die for your country! Undying allegiance! Join the army! Onward--destroy the enemy!
I see more of that in right-wing sponsored announcements (many of which on PBS in between children's programming), than I do here.

Wow! Some radical suggested drinking less bottled water! Oh the shame of it all. How can we deprive coca-cola of revenue in such a way? Evil, evil people.
Seriously, bottled water wastes tons of plastic, disrupts local water supplies, and wastes thousands of gallons of fuel shipping it. Why would you find this comment radical?
