Eagle Forum to Host Richfield Village Trustee Candidate Forum
Richfield: Eagle Forum of Wisconsin-Washington County will host a candidate forum for Richfield Village Trustees on Thursday, March 31, at 7:00 p.m.
The event will be held at Richfield Elementary School, 3117 State Hwy. 167.
The format will include an introductory statement by each candidate. Candidates will take turns answering questions and will be allowed conclusion time.
Trustee candidates for the village of Richfield are Rock Brandner (I), Bill Collins (I), Reid Snedaker, and Sandy Voss.
The moderator will be State Representative Don Pridemore. Pridemore is a 1977 graduate of Marquette University, a former electronics researcher and engineer, and an amateur chili judge. A veteran from the Vietnam Era, he served in the Air Force from 1965-1969. He is a former president of the Hartford Area Taxpayer Association, a member of the Hartford Lions, and Greater Hartford Optimists, as well as the American Legion, VFW, and the NRA. In the past he has served as assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 741, and state director for Wisconsin Citizens for Legal Reform, and a member of the Erin Park Board since 1995. In 2004, he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly, and has been unopposed for the last two elections.
Eagle Forum is offering this event as a community service to the greater Washington County area. The forum will be videotaped and shared via the Eagle Forum website at www.eagleforumwc.blogspot.com for later viewing.
No direct debate will be permitted, and no questions will be taken from the floor.
The event is free and open to the public.

Thompson hijacks AFP Tea Party event - McKenna lends 2 cents
I went to the Madison TEA Party today. More out of curiosity than anything, you could say. Weather certainly cooperated. Crowd was being estimated at 10,000, but I believe that was a bit inflated. You can read about the event HERE.
Tommy Thompson used the event to draw attention to himself and publicly state he would not be running for governor. (Good.)

Electoral College at Risk
Seems the electoral college is a liberal [sic] threat. National Popular Vote an UNpopular move.

The EC represents the genius of our Founding Fathers and it was part of the
great compromise which transformed us from 13 rival colonies into a
constitutional republic.
· This great compromise gave us a Congress consisting of the Senate based on
equal representation of the states and the House based on population. The
EC is the mirror image of this compromise and allows all states to be players
in the process of electing our President.
· The EC is the vehicle that gives us a President who achieves a majority in a
functioning political process.
· Without the EC, we would always be saddled with minority Presidents
without an adequate basis of support for leadership.
· The EC ensures that no single faction or issue can elect a president because
he must win many diverse states to be elected.
Conclusions:
· This campaign effort is likely just the beginning of an effort to bring national
government under the control of large and liberal states.
· The abolition of the EC contradicts our constitutional republic’s state and
federal government sharing of powers.
· Choosing presidents is one of our states’ powers, and we should not remove it
to begin a centralized national American government

National Popular Vote Bill attacks U.S. Constitution - Take Action
The National Popular Vote Bill was circulated for cosponsorship today.
This is a direct attack on our U.S. Constitution. Long story short it would change the way we elect our President. It would create a situation in which a President could be elected with only 20% of the voting population instead of the current 51%. If there are 20 candidates running for president the winner would only need a majority (which could be 20% or less depending on how the votes are split up) in order to win. The candidates would only need to focus on the high populous areas in order to win, creating a VERY slanted playing field. How would you like CA, FL and NY being the biggest players in deciding who our President would be? For more information and talking points, click here.

Schlafly Denounced ALA's Banned Books Week - Calls it "Bullying"

A few weeks ago, the American Library Association announcedwith much fanfare that it was celebrating the ridiculous event called “Banned Books Week.” This announcement accused Americans of being “zealots and bigots who live in fear of discourse” and of being “screamers and book banners and book burners.” This Association arranged events and set up displays at libraries all over the country to pretend we have a problem with censorship.
The American Library Association puts out a list of books that it claims are being censored, which is a fraud because only government can engage in censorship and I assure you that our government is not censoring books. A so-called list of “banned books” was created by crying “censorship” anytime library patrons or parents of public school children complain about risque books being given to their children. The American Library Association claims that there were 186 cases of supposed censorship last year. But those were merely cases of ordinary people filing complaints with schools or libraries. Nearly all of these challenges to books took place at schools, and the rest of the complaints involved books available in the youth or children’s section of public libraries. These complaints had nothing to do with any book read by an[y] adult. These people accused of being “book banners” are just ordinary parents who want to limit their own children’s exposure to material they consider harmful or obscene.
Banned Books Week is not a celebration of free speech. It's a way for leftwing bureaucrats to bully ordinary citizens by stigmatizing those who complain with nasty names such as ‘bigots,’ ‘screamers,’ and ‘book burners’. The purpose is to intimidate parents from ever complaining about books that are given to their own children.

Eagle Forum / Kitty Werthmann / Nationalized Health Care / KEEP YOUR GUNS
Kitty Werthmann is an 83-year-old Holocaust survivor who is smart as a whip. She lent personal insight into the horrors of life under nationalized healthcare/education/religion, and how they got their through trickery by the government. She warned that the CHURCHES are currently behind the movement to support socialized healthcare and are leading the way to our demise. (Just Google Common Grounds and Saul Alinsky).
She said that people handed over the guns to the government and, had they known what was coming, they would have "fought the battle to the bloody end." Her advice to America?
"Keep your guns, and buy MORE guns."
She warned that the "green" is the new "red", referring to environmentalist distraction tactics.
Lastly, she left us with this quote:
"When the people are scared of the government, that is tyranny. When the government is scared of the people, that is liberty."
Amen, Kitty.

Spending the weekend in balmy St. Louis at the Eagle Forum "How To Take Back America" conference.
Congressman Tom Price spoke tonight. He stated that more government is the wrong answer. Formed Republican Study Committee. Pointed people in direction of HR3400.
Said he actually read the health care bills before congress, and he has a medical treatment (Price is also an M.D.) for it: "It qualifies for medical malpractice."
Price said, "It's not about health care; it's about power and freedom."
Price further went over the principles in health care stating"none are improved by the further intervention of the Federal goverernment:
Affordability, accessibility, quality, responsiveness, innovation and choices (the last three being his personal additions.)

Less Government - Does the bill tend to reduce government regulations, size of government, or eliminate entitlements or unnecessary programs?
Lower Taxes - Does the bill promote individual responsibility in spending, or reduce taxes or fees?
Personal Responsibility - Does the bill encourage responsible behavior by individuals and families and encourage them to provide for their own health, safety, education, moral fortitude, or general welfare?
Individual Freedom - Does the bill increase opportunities for individuals or families to decide, without hindrance or coercion from government, how to conduct their own lives and make personal choices?
Stronger Families - Does the bill enhance the traditional American family and its power to rear children without excessive interference from the government?
Domestic Tranquility, National Defense - Does the bill enhance American security without unduly burdening civil liberty?

5. There will be no use of federal funds for provision of abortion.
6. There will be no tax raise.
