Verify the Recall Searchable Database to go *LIVE* Wednesday

From Verify the Recall:

Verify The Recall (VTR) has successfully tested a program that will become a publicly accessible, online, searchable database. VTR expects to publicly launch the program during the evening of Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Recall signature data from Wisconsin's gubernatorial and state senator recalls will be made available for public scrutiny. Data from the Lieutenant Governor recall will not be included in the initial launch. VTR's program will make public information (recall signature data) acquired from the GAB available to the public in a meaningful way.

Searches may be conducted using a first name, last name, street address, city, zip code, municipality, signature date, or any combination thereof. Copies of original recall petitions can also be viewed.

VTR will launch this program to help ensure the transparency and integrity of the recall process. Any individual who discovers the fraudulent use of their name, address, an underage child's name, or a deceased relative's name will be empowered to complete an affidavit contesting the fraudulent signature. All affidavits will accompany the gubernatorial and state senator recall signature eligibility reports submitted to the GAB by VTR.

VTR has taken the initiative to open lines of communication with organizations like the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Abuse to discuss privacy concerns for protected individuals. VTR continues to accept address redaction requests from individuals with "confidential voting status" as defined under Wisconsin Statute Section 6.47. Such requests must be received by VTR by March 7, 2012. Details of how address redaction requests can be made can be found atwww.VerifyTheRecall.com. VTR will not accept redaction requests from individuals without confidential voting status.

While VTR applauds any efforts taken to make the recall process as transparent as possible, it is important to clarify that VTR is not associated or in communication with any other organizations that may choose to launch their own publicly accessible, online, searchable databases. The official VTR program will be linked to VTR's website when it is launched.

VTR issues a special "thank you" to its thousands of data entry volunteers. It is due to the incredible efforts of VTR Volunteers in recent weeks that an online, searchable database is now possible.

Bullied, and Misled - West Bend Families Were Duped

The citizens of West Bend and the school district board members have been misled.

Recommendations from two law firms regarding the legal battle against school sponsorship of a Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) were biased and heavily weighted in favor of the GSA. The District may as well have hired local drum-beater Waring Fincke. Have we forgotten that 1.26 million people in the state of Wisconsin cast their vote to secure one man/one woman marriage? The message across the state is clear - the majority of our state supports this decision, the majority of Washington County supports it as well, and the majority of our school district should be represented accordingly. A mere 30 students who are being led by a local sex therapist and an openly gay high school teacher do not trump the wishes of the majority. The GSA's rabid attorney who uses his credentials to bully those whom he disagrees with appears to hold himself in high esteem in our city. He can be seen organizing anti-Grothman events, leading high school and college kids along our streets like the pied piper, bullhorn in hand, instigating, intimidating, and, in the opinion of many, verbally abusing citizens through word and deed.

Most recently, the West Bend School District board members rescinded a vote taken that maintained the GSA as an after-school club. The rescind of this vote was brought forward due to the scare tactics of Fincke and his GLSEN attorney friend. The revote came on the heels of a so-called recommendation from two law firms that clearly sided with Fincke; both were chosen by Supt. Ted Neitzke, and both were approved by board president, Randy Marquardt.

On the outside, the law firms appear harmless. The first opinion was obtained from Mary Hubacher who is already on staff with the District as our paid legal defense. Hubacher has given the appearance of bias in past issues regarding traditional family and liberal sexual issues. The second recommendation came from Milwaukee law firm Quarles and Brady, who openly state their support and advocacy for homosexual issues on their website.

How then, one might ask, could our school board have obtained the necessary supportive information from an attorney who would represent the majority of the board, and the taxpayers of West Bend? Indeed. In obtaining legal advice from Quarles and Brady, Neitzke showed his heavy hand towards solidifying the inclusion of the GSA in our school-sponsored clubs. Without digging into the background of this firm that strongly advocates homosexuality, one would most likely never know this was the case. It seems our District was not given the opportunity to receive legal advice from a law firm that supported their initial decision. They were simply handed the statements from two apparent pro-homosexual, anti-family entities and expected to gulp it down.

A rescind of this vote should be called for. A revote should be insisted upon. Our school district should insist on equal representation and supportive legal advice for the taxpayers and parents of our West Bend School District. Though the cost factor can also lead to a fiscal intimidation factor, let's remember that once we allow the bully in, more will follow.

West Bend East High School teacher receives award from GSAFE for creating gay club at high school

"He regularly incorporates LGBT history into his U.S. History and Government/Law curriculum." - HUH?

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK.

Teacher of the year

West Bend East High School teacher Scott Lone has been selected the 2009 Educator of the Year by the Gay Straight Alliance for Safe Schools (GSAFE).

Lone was presented the Celebration of Leadership Award during a May 16 banquet in Madison where he was recognized along with six students for “creating real change for lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgendered (LGBT) and ally students across Wisconsin.”

According to the GSAFE Web site, Lone created East’s GSA in 2003 and has worked to ensure a safe place for LGBTQ students and their allies ever since. As club advisor, he has created an environment to support LGBTQ students and discuss the harassment that many of them deal with at school, according to the Web site.

Lone helped organize teams to participate in AIDS Walk and, for the past six years, spear-headed efforts to observe a Day of Silence, the Web site said.

GSAFE = Read.

HERE IS HOW HE PORTRAYS THE WEST BEND SCHOOL DISTRICT:

Scott Lone has been the target of conservative opposition and public scrutiny as an out history teacher at West Bend East High School, the fourth largest high school in Wisconsin. He created his school’s GSA in 2003 and has worked to ensure a safe place for LGBTQ students and their allies ever since. As club advisor he has created an environment to support LGBTQ students and discuss the harassment that many of them deal with at school. He helped organize teams to participate in AIDS Walk and for the past six years spear-headed efforts to observe Day of Silence. Scott also co-facilitated a support group for LGBT students. He regularly incorporates LGBT history into his U.S. History and Government/Law curriculum. He is consistent and fair when addressing all harassment issues amongst students and staff. In the summer and fall of 2008 Scott faced intense public persecution in the form of accusations, innuendos, letters to the school board, school administration, and the State Attorney General because of his strong stance against one groups’ efforts to repeal the school’s non-discrimination policy. Despite these attacks, Scott has continued to be a resource and strong support to LGBT students at his school. (Scott teaches at West Bend East High School)

Interesting. Lone's name was never brought up (to the best of my knowledge) at any school board meetings. An objection was made via email to the creation of a GLBTQ support group funded with taxpayer dollars, which was subsequently disbanded. No other references, other than this one, were directed towards Lone. Who is fooling who? And might I add, if one tries to do an ORR for materials to confirm any of this using Lone's name, you will be denied by the city attorney (as we were). Harassment, you know. Our point exactly.
