People shouldn't be allowed to control how everyone else raises their children.

Furthermore, why are so many of the entries on here homophobic? I keep seeing things like "heterosexual sex - pg64 ... homosexual sex - pg92." And a lot of bolded or colored text where it talks about any kind of homosexuality or intercourse of that nature. Do the parents of Wisconsin have something against homosexuals? Are you afraid that your children will become gay if they read this material? That's a sadly ignorant standpoint, and I truly feel sorry for you if you believe that.Nicholenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6342364914875572105.post-75056007988004235112009-06-10T17:38:46.314-05:002009-06-10T17:38:46.314-05:00Thanks for commenting. And even with the seven letters, it is not an attack on Ginny, but a criticism of her statements.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02140036988267376901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6342364914875572105.post-48914068612364133772009-06-09T22:21:32.934-05:002009-06-09T22:21:32.934-05:00Ginny, let me ask you, how did you manage to creat...Ginny, let me ask you, how did you manage to create the children you so vehemently wish to protect? Was it that you closed your eyes and thought of Tommy Thompson? Or have you blotted those unpleasant nights it took to conceive however many offspring you have produced? Because apparently, in your world, sex is a baaaaaaaaaad -- if not the worst -- thing.

If I were to go overboard on an issue, I'd much rather have my kids shielded from the all-pervasive, right-wing beloved, ultra-violence present in all forms of media -- books, TV, the internet, etc. But I believe in free speech and that, with my general none-too-obtrusive guidance, my kids will ultimately do the right thing. And if they make a mistake now and then, well that's pretty much to be expected. They're people.

So, as much as I'm against graphic violence in books for pre-teens, I'm not calling for such books with to be banned from my library. If my son should happen to read a book with such graphically violent material, I'm confident he's got sense enough not to rush out and re-enact the scene for himself in vivid detail.

PPS. I'm glad to hear these other Wisconsin folks "speaking up." So, please let us all in on the joke -- Was that really your intent all along, getting sensible people riled up and cursing you on your blog? I'm sure if you felt your rights or family values were being taken for granted, you would only send an e-mail with vulgar language!!

It isn't all "traditional family values" that Ginny is advocating for. It's the simple fact that what is made available in a public library that she is challenging. If I remember correctly, all of us has the right and ability to fight for what we believe in. I appreciate the attention being brought to this issue and the issue being disected publicly.

People become so busy that sometimes we fail to see what our children are doing or reading. It's advocates like Ginny that help me and others become more aware of what is made available to our children. They are designed to be places to find all kinds of information, literature, other media, and so on. And no, none of this is XXX. Above all, don't try to keep stuff from other people's kids. And lastly, your values do NOT represent the values of the whole community so stop implying that they do.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6342364914875572105.post-50635295739383276732009-06-04T21:33:43.738-05:002009-06-04T21:33:43.738-05:00Marshwood,
